Paul Perry
Bestselling author PAUL PERRY'S quest to explore the lost years of Jesus began several years ago while directing a documentary film about the stone temples of the Nile River in Egypt. "I was looking across the desert from the deck of the production boat when I remembered that Jesus had been to Egypt to escape the death sentence imposed on him by King Herod, but there was no account in the Bible about what he did when he was there," said Perry.
From that point on, the lost years of Jesus became an obsession for Perry. He interviewed hundreds of people of all religions and studied ancient documents in a relentless effort to piece together the secret childhood of Jesus. His search finally came to bear on the Holy Family Trail, a series of sites assembled by Egyptian Christians that represent the route taken by the Holy Family as they fled the soldiers of Herod. It was on this trail that Perry witnessed medical miracles, astounding visions, and the power of faith that gives hope to many in an often times hopeless world.
Paul Perry is the author of Jesus in Egypt: Discovering the secrets of Christ's childhood years, as well as the author of three New York Times bestsellers, including Closer to the Light and Saved by the Light, which was turned into a popular movie by FOX Entertainment.
In addition to writing and co-writing more than a dozen books, Perry has edited a number of magazines, including American Health magazine, which won a National Magazine Award during his tenure as Executive Editor. He has also participated in a number of archaeological expeditions, including a Discovery Channel expedition in Madagascar to find the sunken flagship of Captain William Kidd, the 18th century English pirate. A graduate of the MFA program at Antioch University and of Arizona State University, Perry is a former fellow at the Gannett Center for Media Studies at Columbia University in New York City. He lives in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
